About our Class

Kindergarten for most children is the first independent adventure away from home. It is at school that the child develops lasting attitudes toward their learning environment, their teacher and their classmates. It is here that the child learns to accept other children and to be accepted by them.

This is not an accidental adjustment, but a complicated process for small children. It takes place best when love, patience and understanding are present in the home and in the school. For this reason, cooperation between teachers and parents is important. We have an opportunity to pool our understanding of your child and to work out ways of helping him/her progress.

The kindergarten program has been developed to enable every child to participate and succeed whatever his or her developmental level. Kindergartners will continue to acquire the concepts and strategies needed toward becoming successful readers and life-long learners.

St. Mary Immaculate School supports the philosophy and goals set forth the the Diocesan Early Learning Committee for preschool and kindergarten and will endeavor to meet these guidelines in our program.
